New Catalyst for Maleic
Anhydride |
|
Lonza AG (Basel,
Switzerland) has developed a new generation of fluidized-bed (FB) catalysts,
for its proprietary process for making maleic anhydride (MA). The catalyst,
called X4, is based on traditional vanadium phosphorous oxide (VPO) type
catalysts, which have been modified to increase selectivity.
Compared to previous-generation catalysts, X4 has a higher selectivity and
allows the operating temperature to be reduced which is expected to increase
the catalyst lifetime to as long as ten years.

DUAL
STAGE (LNG) LIQUEFACTION. A major Efficiency
Improvement. |

Dual Stage (LNG)
Liquefaction.
A major Efficiency
Improvement.
New technology to
produce (LNG) entitled as "liquefin" being offered by French company Axens
NA (www.axens.net) is expected to be employed in joint venture between Total
S.A and NIOC (Iran). Liquefin offers 15% more (LNG) output as compared to be
competing technologies alongwith reduction of cost per ton of the (LNG)
product by 25% and lowering of investment on liquefaction unit by 10%.

CRIOX SYSTEM MULTIPRODUCT VACUUM
DRIER - POWDERER
Italvacuum S.r.l., Italy |
     |
|
POWDERING WHILE DRYING |
|
The CRIOX system, covered by international patents, is a
High vacuum rotary drier capable of totally extracting water or other
solvents from wet powders coming from a filtration or centrifuge whether
they are intermediate products, fine chemicals, finished products even
thermo-sensitive, delicate, more or less fine, degradable, photosensitive, sterile, injectables, active ingredients
or chemical reactive.
CRIOX is multipurpose: it can also be used as an
effective and fast mixer and blender or homogenizer; in most cases it does
not require the use of mills or grinders and can be used as a granulator.
CRIOX is multiproduct: it has been specifically designed to allow use
with the widest possible range of products either amorphous or with
crystalline structure. While drying CRIOX breaks the blocks or lumps that
may be formed and produces a dry power ready for packing or dry sifting.
CRIOX is truly versatile: it minimizes the down time required for
re-conditioning the line, cleaning and inspection of the system prior to
changing product.
CRIOX is cost effective and safe: fully compliant to the ever more
stringent FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations, it makes the
cleaning and inspection operations easier and faster than any other drier.
The basic components constituting the
CRIOX system are designed to meet
desired requirements flexibly and efficiently. The total flexibility of the
system allows use of CRIOX for products or batch sizes even very dissimilar
to each other, yet allowing the maximum performance. |
|
THE REASONS OF A SUCCESS |
|
1. Absolute safety for the operators, the product and the
environment.
2. Perfectly homogeneous and uniform dried batch. No dead
areas.
3. Controlled powdering of the product during the drying cycle.
4. Reduced drying time. Choppers increase the product surface exposed to
evaporation.
5. Very low final moisture contents well within the ppm limits required
by the pharmacopoeia even at low temperatures.
6. Very high final vacuum (better than 0.01 mbar).
7. Fast and total discharge of dried product thanks to the conical shape
and use of vibrators.
8. Easiness of internal and external cleaning with full access for
inspection and SWAB testing.
9. Total automation of the system to assure process reproducibility and
homogeneity from batch to batch.
10. Validation and FDA approval. |

ITALVACUUM S.r.l., Italy |
|
(Extracts) |
|
Founded in 1939, ITALVACUUM is a privately owned company
located in Borgaro Torinese, Italy, very close to the international airport
of Torino-Caselle.
ITALVACUUM can rely on more than 60 years of experience in the field
of
vacuum dryers for fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals (intermediate and final),
petrochemicals (PET, nylon-chips, etc.) and foodstuffs, and in the field of
ecological vacuum pumps for round-the-clock operation under particularly
severe conditions.
Since its establishment as designer and m anufacturer of vacuum piston pumps
for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, Italvacuum has grown to one of
the major companies involved both in static (tray dryers) and rotary vacuum
drying technology. The result of the experience gained is a revolutionary
product, patented in Italy and abroad, which answers the strict FDA
validation criteria: the patented Vacuum Drying / Powdering CRIOX system.
